Time off is important and can be very valuable on multiple fronts. It goes without saying that it is valuable to take some time off from work, change the environment and create a bit of distance, both mentally and physically (I don’t believe in “staycations”) and actually leave the area if possible, unplug and immerse yourself in the moment (with …
How to set and achieve your goals
We all have goals, but how do you set the stage in order to achieve those goals? First, your major goals need to be measurable and large, very large! They need to be so monumental that they will keep you moving forward and making progress for years, even decades to come. When it comes to smaller goals, they generally come …
Stop playing it safe
Stop playing it safe, take risks, act and live your life to the fullest. You know what you dream of, what you think of when no one is around. Now, that you have spent months, frequently even years thinking about it, it’s time to take action and work towards those goals.
Don’t judge people
We have all done it at some point in life, we have judged someone else. In every instance, that was a wrong decision to make as none of us is perfect and none of us should have the audacity to look down on another human being. Furthermore, in most cases, we don’t have all the information and don’t know why …
When is it time to make a career move
Lack of progress (both personal and professional) over a long period of time is indicative that it might be time for you to begin exploring other options. Think BIGGER!
Bigger! Think bigger and exceed your current grand, life-long goals. We are all capable of achieving more than we think we can as long as we are willing to put in the effort needed to succeed. Also, it is important to note that all major goals take a long time and they require years, perhaps even decades of commitment, energy, …
Stop comparing yourself to others
Stop comparing yourself to others. Be who you truly are on focus on your major goals and get your priorities in order. People will talk, have opinions, ideas, but none of them should have control over your life and your future…it’s yours, own it!
Live your life today and every day
Life is precious, valuable and incredible so do all you can to live it to the fullest, filled with happiness, joy and purpose, surrounded by people you love. Think for yourself, be yourself and don’t blindly follow the crowd. Enjoy each day and focus on what is important and what matters in life.
Write down your goals and make them visible
Write down your goals and make them visible. When I say this, I refer to your major 5-8 goals you want to accomplish this year. Once they are written down, make them visible everywhere, at home, at work, on your phone, laptop…everywhere. You want these consistent reminders of what your priorities are and that time shouldn’t be wasted.
Leadership is not a popularity contest
Leadership is not a popularity contest. Privileges of leadership come with responsibilities to make decisions that positively impact the lives of the majority and the firm as a whole. It is very rare that you will be able to make decisions that will be well received by everyone, by 100% of the people impacted by that decision. With that in …
