Search committee representation

When selecting representation for a search committee one must keep the position they are hiring for in mind. Focus not only on the operations or functions the new hire will fill, but also include people from other areas of your organization which will closely work with the incumbent.

All employee groups who will work for or closely with them should be represented on the search committee. If you are hiring a leadership position don’t just include other leadership positions, add a manager or two as well as staff…everyone is of equal importance and value and as such should be adequately represented.

Remember, by including diverse representation the entire organization will benefit from this diversity of experiences, backgrounds and ideas and your team will get the best available candidate.
