Whenever possible, hire people who are better than you. Hire those who are the best you have ever seen within the domain of services or products that your team is responsible for. You want quality over quantity and you’ll want it every single time. Additionally, you don’t want the rest of your team to be doing someone else’s job in addition to their own nor do you want (or should) be doing that either. This is why it is essential to hire those who you can fully trust and whose work won’t need second guessing and additional oversight. Finally, and most importantly, you want to hire individuals whose personality and character will fit well with the rest of the team as even quality sprinkled with arrogance or attitude is not worth it.
