  1. true, I never liked myspace that much. Their interface seemed too crowded. I prefer Facebook. It has to this day a cleaner and more efficient look. I think that allowing people to put HTML on their page has its advantages but then you don’t get consistency accross the website. I think a clean consistent look is more professional and conveys a stronger brand identity. Like Facebook, LinkedIn doesn’t allow users to radically alter the look by embedding all kinds of sparkling elves… It might be hot for 13 year olds but their parents would stay far away. Even parents are on Facebook these days, which says a lot about its credibility. I think that by trying too much to be a cool/trendy/fashionable/ or maybe playing too much to its pop culture appeal it might have typecasted itself. I agree that if all else remains the same, then, in a few years, myspace will have the same place in our lives as did japanese character baseball caps- (for those who remember 😉
