DIY Themes’ Thesis

I finally found some time over the past week to do some research (it’s what I do 😉 ) on the best WordPress themes out there and DIY Themes’ Thesis seems to come out on top. I decided to go with it and after playing around their code “sandbox” for less than a day I absolutely love the possibilities and options it provides. Their major strength in addition to a well designed and optimized theme is their support forum where you can find answers to most (if not all) of your questions.

Let me know what you think or if you have any other themes you find professional, efficient and properly supported. In case you decide to give Thesis a try you should also follow them on Twitter for the first-hand info.

  1. Hey there- great video review!

Do you still love Thesis like you did when you posted? I’m considering getting the Dev. version, but I have questions and I can’t seem to find contact information for them.

1- Does this theme do drop down menus?
2- Does the Dev. licences allow you to use this theme for as many clients as you please? Or just your personal blogs?

    Thanks for your help!

    Wallace,

here are answers to your questions:

    1. Yes! You need to know a bit of HTML/CSS, but it is possible. Also, most of the questions can be answered or at least helped with in their forums (you get access after purchasing thesis).

    2. My understanding of the licensing is your personal blogs, you can’t sell it to others.

Also, you can hit them up on twitter (@diythemes)

  3. Thanks Milos!

Just in case you wanted to know, they got back to me. Here are the answers:

    1. Yes, we receive requests for dropdown menus all the time, and we’ve got in-house resources that you’ll be able to use to get a nav menu up and running in no time. (just what you said)

    2. If you purchase the $87 Personal Option, you may only deploy Thesis on a live site + a test domain. If you purchase the $164 Developer’s Option, you’ll be able to use the theme on as many sites that you own as you like. Finally, if you want to use the theme on clients’ sites, you’ll need the Developer’s Option, and then you’ll need to purchase a Client Site Option ($40) on each site where you’d like to deploy the theme.

I could not find the licencing information anywhere! I thought I had to get it out there somehow. Cheers.

    Wallace,

thank you for sharing this information with me (and others). I’m sure it will be useful to people as they consider Thesis for their sites.

  5. Thanks for that Wallace (and Milos) – I’ve been trying to track down just what the $40 deployment means – bit of a #fail that the site is not clearer! Will go follow them on twitter and tell them off!
