First power outage of the summer

by Milos Topic on July 7, 2009

Today, starting at 10:44 AM we had our first power outage on campus this summer. It lasted close to two and a half hours and I think that we might see few more before September 1st.

I am going to go with lucky number 7. I think we avoided trouble in June because the weather remained cool throughout the month. Things will assuredly heat up in July and August and I wouldn’t bet anything in PSE&Gs favor. I’ve said it before, and I know it’s no consolation to you guys but it sure makes me glad we moved our data center over to U.H. where we have a generator.

Another interesting summer ahead, that’s for sure. I’m not betting in PSE&G’s favor, I just find it difficult to believe that only our campus loses power while surrounding towns are plugging away just fine.

I’m gonna say we will have 4 power outages this summer. As soon as August rolls around and the crazy humidity rolls in.
