When will this misery end?

by Milos Topic on February 23, 2009

I’m in a very somber mood today, reading about thousands of people getting laid off almost every single day (including a few I know personally) is very depressing.

From Tech Layoffs to Construction to Medical industry, no one seems to be immune to the “plague” caused by greed, stupidity and lack of long term planning. While I will do whatever I can to help those close to me, I wonder how much longer will this slide into abyss continue. When will this misery end?

Our present time clearly illustrates many socioeconomic differences and further proves that middle-class is dead in America and throughout most of the world. The fact that some can’t afford to be without a paycheck for more than a week or two while others are offering more than 25% on top of the asking price for a home shows how inequitable our society truly is.

It makes us all think what would we do if we were to lose our jobs; would we know what to do, where to turn; would we be able to pay our bills and for how long; would we keep our homes; would we survive?
