Tattoo choices

by Milos Topic on January 12, 2009

This morning on my way to work I was listening to radio where they talked about people tattooing names of those they were dating. WTF! Why would you ever do that!? What’s even worse, several people called in saying that they have done that as well. You guessed it, all of them have regretted doing so.

While I have nothing against tattoos with a meaning, I can’t understand the level of stupidity or intoxication (or both) required to get someone to ink a name of their girlfriend or boyfriend. Second part of this shenanigance is the placement of these tattoos, but in good taste I will leave that part out.

Call me old fashioned, but I find this behavior downright stupid.

Do you know someone who did this and if so have you ever asked them why did they do it?

My tattoo artist Chris told me a funny story in this regard. A couple walks into his joint, and the lady wants “Pepe” or something (can’t remember) on the small of her back, which is apparently the name of the dude she is with. She is hanging all over this dude and making out like crazy – in a tattoo shop, how classy!

Chris’ shop has a strict cash-only policy and and furthermore a policy against doing work on drunk people. Yet after careful observation it is clear she isn’t drunk, but simply lovestruck. He goes ahead and does the work. Why not?

The next day the young lady comes back in a total panic – asking if it the tattoo could be covered up immediately. It’s explained to her that the original job needs a couple weeks to heal and she starts throwing a fit. Apparently her HUSBAND wanted to know who “Pepe” was and didn’t seem to buy her excuse!

Wow! I would have loved to hear her attempt at explaining that to her husband…it must have been an eventful and exciting conversation. :)
