I think the answer might be “all of the above” for a lot of people. I follow people for many reasons:
1. because they are funny
2. because they post interesting links/pictures
3. because I know them in person
4. because they are a known personality in my field, or because I personally admire their work
5. because I read their blog or they read mine and we interact online a lot and thus I’m interested in what they have to say
Also, I like to have a place where I can blurt out random stuff when I’m happy, frustrated, annoyed or bored.
